A new 13-member committee has been formed for the Sreepur Upazila branch of Magura Reporters Unity for the 2025-26 term. The formation took place on Wednesday, March 5, at the temporary office of the Sreepur branch in the presence of its members. Zakirul Islam from Dainik Desh Chitra has been appointed as the President, while Bikash Bachar from Dainik Amar Barta will serve as the General Secretary, and Abdur Rashid from Dainik Alokit Sakal has taken on the role of Organizing Secretary.
A three-member advisory council has been announced. Senior lawyer Advocate Abdur Rashid has been appointed as the Chief Advisor, while renowned educationist and columnist Mirza Nahid Hossain and former Sreepur Press Club President Harun Or Rashid will serve as advisors.
The previous convening committee, led by Convenor Bikash Bachar and Member Secretary Abdur Rashid, has been officially dissolved with the formation of a new committee. The new committee includes Vice Presidents Mridha Nazmul Hasan from The Daily Tribunal and Parimal Kumar Biswas from Sakaler Bangladesh . Mia Baharul Islam from Dainik Alokit Sakal has been appointed Joint General Secretary, and Md. Mizanur Rahman from Kushtia Pratidin will serve as Co-Organizing Secretary. Mahitosh Kumar Biswas is the new Treasurer, while Md. Zakir Hossain from Daily International will be Office Secretary. Nurul Huda has been named Publicity Secretary, AKM Idris Ali as the Sports and Literature Secretary, and Pradeep Biswas and Ishrat Jahan Tanni have been included as members.
The discussion meeting, presided over by Magura Reporters Unity President Md. Yunus Ali, moderated by General Secretary Ali Ashraf, included District Reporters Unity’s Organizing Secretary Md. Touhidul Islam as a special guest. The new committee pledged to advance the organization, protect journalists' rights, support young and underrepresented journalists, maintain unity among members, and safeguard the organization's reputation.
