A robbery has taken place at the house of an expatriate in Gazipur's Biprabartha area. The robbers took the members of the house hostage at gunpoint and looted nearly one lakh rupees and ten loads of gold ornaments.
The incident took place at the house of Rafiqul Islam, a resident of Biprabartha area of Ward No. 21 of Gazipur metropolis around 1:30 pm on Friday. Expatriate Rafiqul's wife said, around 1:30 am, a group of 9-10 robbers entered the house by breaking the lock of the door on the second floor of the roof. All of them had masks on their faces. The robbers tied the arms and legs and held the son and his mother-in-law hostage at gunpoint. Later, they broke the cupboard and took valuable goods including gold ornaments worth around one lakh rupees. While leaving, the robbers threatened not to tell anyone. Since then, the residents of the area are in fear. Rafiqul Islam has been living in Qatar for many years, leaving behind a child, mother and pregnant wife to make a living. The police say that legal action will be taken if a complaint is filed.
