The Special Olympics Bangladesh Floorball team departed from Dhaka for Turin, Italy, yesterday at 12:40 pm to compete in the Special Olympics World Winter Games 2025, set to take place from March 8-15.
Leading the delegation is Sports Director of Special Olympics Bangladesh, Engineer Sheikh Abul Hashem, a former national badminton champion and national award-winning athlete. The deputy head of the delegation is Kamrun Nahar Dana, Director of Special Olympics Bangladesh and acting president of the Bangladesh Badminton Federation, also a former national badminton champion and award-winning player.
The team is coached by Zahid Hossain Raju, the National Hockey Coach at BKSP and Head Coach of Special Olympics Bangladesh, with Farida Parveen serving as the Assistant Coach. Subarna Chakma, Director of Special Olympics Bangladesh, is accompanying the team as additional staff, while Dr. Nishat Parveen will provide medical support as the team doctor.
Special Olympics Bangladesh Chairman Mashiur Rahman, Director Yasmin Rahman, and National Director Farukul Islam were present at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport to motivate and bid farewell to the team.
The delegation has called on the nation's well-wishers to pray for the team's success, aiming to repeat last year's triumph and bring home a gold medal.
