The Journalists Association of Bangladesh Secretariat (JABS) has expressed deep shock and condolences over the tragic crash of a Bangladesh Air Force (BAF) fighter jet into Milestone School and College in Uttara, which left dozens dead and many others injured.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, JABS President Riazur Rahman Riaz and General Secretary Nizam Uddin Darbesh prayed for the departed souls and wished a speedy recovery for the injured. They also called upon all to stand beside the affected families during this difficult time.
“The entire nation is mourning this horrific disaster. We are deeply saddened by the loss of young students’ lives in such a brutal manner,” the JABS leaders said in the statement.
They urged the government to ensure a thorough investigation into the incident and take necessary preventive measures to avoid such tragedies in the future. The association also appealed for proper compensation and support for the families of the victims and the injured.
Earlier, on Monday afternoon, a BAF F-7 BGI fighter jet crashed into an academic building of Milestone School and College, causing an immediate fire. So far, at least 31 people have been confirmed dead, with over 150 others injured, many of them critically.
