Electroencephalography (EEG) test has been launched for the first time at Sher-e-Bangla Medical College Hospital, Barisal. This test, which is very important for patients suffering from epilepsy, brain tumors, meningitis, encephalitis, stroke and other neurological problems, is being done at the hospital at a low cost.
The hospital's director, Brig. J. Dr. AKM Moshiul Munir, inaugurated the electroencephalography (EEG) test program on Monday, December 1. An electroencephalography (EEG) machine was provided free of charge to Sher-e-Bangla Medical College Hospital, Barisal, under the initiative of the UK-based Tafida Rakib Foundation. Training was provided at Sylhet GM Osmani Medical College Hospital from September 29 to October 4 on the operation and maintenance of the machine under the initiative of Tafida Rakib Foundation.
Two medical technicians, including a neuromedicine specialist, participated in the training at Sher-e-Bangla Medical College Hospital. The electroencephalography (EEG) test was officially inaugurated at 10 am on Monday in Room 2037 of the 2nd floor of the hospital.
At the inauguration ceremony, Neuromedicine and Neurology Specialist Dr. Kazi M Monirul Islam said that the EEG test is used to diagnose various neurological diseases by observing and analyzing the electrical activity of the brain.
Especially epilepsy, sleep disorders and brain tumors, brain injuries, strokes or changes in brain function also help identify. He said that the machine will be of great benefit to poor patients. Because this test would have cost 3,000 to 3,500 taka or more to be done privately. But it will cost only 600 taka in a government hospital. Hospital Director Brig. J. Dr. AKM M Moshiul Munir said that this machine was very important for patients. It was not available in our hospital before.

We express our gratitude to the Tafida Rakib Foundation for getting the machine for free and for being able to serve the poor patients of this region.
