The Daulatpur Jute Press and Baling Workers Union of Khulna has held a protest march and sit-in program demanding the lifting of the unconditional ban on raw jute by the Jute Ministry and compensation for the workers during the work stoppage without notice.
Khulna City Corporation Administrator Nazrul Islam Manju went to the BJA building in the afternoon. He held a meeting with the BJA leaders and workers there. At that time, he said that in a meeting with Prime Minister Tarique Rahman, he highlighted the problems of the jute sector in Khulna.
Prime Minister Tarique Rahman said that he is taking urgent steps to solve the ongoing problems. For this, he has directed to call a meeting of the ministry on June 2. There, a decision will be taken regarding jute with everyone in the jute sector.
He expressed hope that the ongoing problems there will also be solved. He also said that the BNP government has taken steps to reopen closed industrial factories. The Prime Minister will take steps to reopen closed jute mills. For this, preparations have already been made to allocate 60 thousand crore taka.
The current government will eliminate the unemployment problem by reopening closed jute mills in Khulna. BNP has implemented its election manifesto by providing family cards and farmer cards. It will fulfill all the manifestos in stages.
At this time, BJA Chairman Khandaker Alamgir Kabir, BJA leader Badrul Alam Markani, Gazi Shariful Islam, Khairuzzaman, Nur Islam Babu, Shamim Ahmed, Qutubuddin, Prince Mahmud, Ranjan Kumar Das, Alamgir Khan, Saiful Islam Babu, Mita Bagchi, Jamal Hossain, Abdus Sattar, Rana Haque, Mohammad Majnu, Leon Zia, Abdus Salam, Abul Kalam Azad and other leaders were present. Akkas Chakladar and other leaders said that the former jute advisor has made thousands of jute workers unemployed by banning the export of raw jute for his own business interests, putting the country's traditional jute industry on the verge of destruction. The speakers called for the immediate repeal of that black law.
