With the slogan “May every day of the new year be colorful in many colors”, Bengali New Year-1433 was celebrated in Barisal with colorful arrangements including a Baisakhi procession. Bengali culture awakens in the soft light of the new sun, and the festival of our lives, Bangla New Year, begins.
Embracing the non-communal and non-discriminatory spirit, the Barisal District Administration organized various programs on the occasion of the Bengali New Year celebration with the participation of all ethnic groups, cultural organizations and individuals.
The New Year formalities began with a Baisakhi procession on Tuesday, April 14 at 8 am. Initially, the Baisakhi procession started from the Circuit House premises, circled the main road of the city and ended again at the Circuit House premises.
The Baisakhi procession was led by the Barisal Divisional Commissioner, Local Government Director Khondaker Anwar Hossain, Additional Divisional Commissioner (Revenue) Md. Sohrab Hossain, District Police Superintendent A, Z, M Mostafizur Rahman, BMP Deputy Police Commissioner (Traffic) Md. Sharfuddin, Education Board Chairman, District Commissioner, senior officials of various government departments, freedom fighters, teachers and students of various educational institutions, guardians and people of various classes and professions.
Later, at 9 am, a rural fair, handicraft exhibition, cultural program and award distribution ceremony were held on the occasion of Bengali New Year-1433 in the Circuit House premises. High-quality traditional Bengali food was arranged in Barisal Central Jail, various hospitals and children's families on the occasion of the New Year. In addition, traditional Bengali cultural programs, exhibitions of various products made by prisoners and cultural programs and plays performed by them were performed in children's families.
