Teachers, students, officials, employees, and alumni enthusiastically joined the celebrations, turning the university into a hub of joy and reunion.
The official inauguration took place at 10:00 a.m. in front of the Administrative Building at Joha Square, where Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Faridul Islam and Land Minister Mizanur Rahman Minu released balloons, festoons, and white doves to mark the beginning of the celebrations. The campus resonated with the national anthem as the ceremony commenced.
Land Minister Mizanur Rahman Minu attended the event as the chief guest. Special guests included Rajshahi-3 Member of Parliament Advocate Shafiqul Haque Milon, Rajshahi City Corporation Administrator Mahfuzur Rahman Riton, Rajshahi Development Authority (RDA) Chairman Abul Kalam Azad, Rajshahi Range Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Md. Shahjahan, along with other senior government and administrative officials.
Deans of various faculties, provosts of residential halls, department heads, teachers, students, and university staff also participated in the celebration.
Following the inaugural ceremony, a colorful procession led by the Vice-Chancellor and distinguished guests marched through the university's main roads with the participation of thousands of students before concluding in front of the Senate Building. Participants carried colorful banners, festoons, and university emblems, adding to the festive spirit on campus.
A tree plantation program was held afterward, followed by a special discussion at the Senate Building to commemorate the university's Foundation Day.
Addressing the discussion, Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Faridul Islam said, "Over the past 73 years, Rajshahi University has played a significant role in promoting higher education, research, and human resource development. We are committed to preserving our tradition of academic excellence and making even greater contributions to the nation's progress in the years ahead."
The day-long celebration revived the campus with excitement and nostalgia as current students and alumni came together to exchange greetings, share memories, and celebrate the university's remarkable 73-year journey of academic excellence and service to the nation.
