Janata Bank PLC and Dutch-Bangla Bank PLC have signed an agreement to facilitate online transactions through the Nexus payment gateway and Rocket mobile financial service, aiming to make digital payment services more convenient, secure and modern for customers.
The agreement was signed on Tuesday at Janata Bank's head office in Dhaka.
The signing ceremony was attended by Janata Bank Chairman Md. Fazlur Rahman, CSP, Managing Director Md. Mujibur Rahman, Deputy Managing Directors Kazi Abdur Rahman and Md. Faiz Alam. Representing Dutch-Bangla Bank were Managing Director and CEO Md. Ehteshamul Haque Khan, Deputy Managing Director Md. Shahadat Hossain, along with senior executives from both institutions.
The agreement was signed on behalf of Janata Bank by Mohammad Anis, General Manager of the ICT Division, while Abdullah Al Masud, Senior Executive Vice President and Head of Branch Operations and Liability Division of Dutch-Bangla Bank, signed on behalf of his bank.
Under the agreement, JanataPay, Janata Bank's proprietary payment gateway, will be integrated with Dutch-Bangla Bank's Nexus Debit Card, Rocket mobile financial service, Visa and Mastercard, enabling customers to make online payments through multiple digital payment channels.
The integration will allow customers of e-commerce platforms, merchants and service providers connected to JanataPay to complete transactions more easily, quickly and securely.
Officials said the initiative will help expand the country's digital financial ecosystem, encourage cashless transactions and provide customers with more efficient, secure and uninterrupted payment services. They expressed hope that the collaboration would further strengthen Bangladesh's growing digital payment infrastructure and enhance the overall customer experience in online financial transactions.
