Bangladesh secured a historic Test victory over Australia on Sunday, winning the opening match of the two-Test series by chasing down a target of just 57 runs.
Australia were bowled out for 284 in their second innings after Bangladesh had taken a commanding 228-run first-innings lead. Australia scored 198 in their first innings, while Bangladesh posted 426.
Resuming the third day on 161-4, Australia saw Cameron Green score a century, but Bangladesh’s bowlers eventually wrapped up the innings.
Mehedi Hasan Miraz took five wickets for 66 runs, dismissing Alex Carey, Beau Webster, captain Pat Cummins and Nathan Lyon. Hasan Mahmud claimed three wickets for 56, including Mitchell Starc and Green, who scored 104.
Taijul Islam and Taskin Ahmed took one wicket each as Australia were dismissed for 284. Bangladesh then completed the chase of 57 runs to seal a memorable victory over the hosts.
