The Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) has collected Tk 177,500 in fines from different areas of the capital after Aedes mosquito larvae were found on residential premises.
As part of a three-month mosquito-control campaign, DNCC executive magistrates conducted mobile court drives on Sunday in Mirpur-10, Rupnagar, Uttar Pallabi, Agargaon, Uttara, Nikunja and Baridhara.
A total of 28 cases were filed against residents and establishments where Aedes larvae were found, with fines collected accordingly.
The mobile courts were led by DNCC executive magistrates Atish Dasi Chakma, S.M. Russell Islam Noor, Shariful Alam Tanvir, Pramath Ranjan Ghatak and Dedarul Islam.
Under the three-month dengue prevention programme announced on National Dengue Prevention Day, DNCC health workers will conduct source reduction, larviciding, rooftop garden inspections, public awareness campaigns, distribution of leaflets and application of Novaluron tablets in different areas.
They will also visit educational institutions to raise awareness among students about dengue prevention.
