A multi-stakeholder advocacy and education exchange meeting was held in Bandarban on environmental and neighborhood restoration, sustainable water resource management and climate resilience.
The meeting was held on Sunday morning, September 28, at the Hilton Conference Hall Room. The program titled “Water Resource Management – Place Based Initiative” is being conducted with the support of World Vision Bangladesh, funded by World Vision USA and implemented by HF (Humanitarian Foundation) and GRAUS (Gram Unnayan Sangathan).
International Development Organization World Vision Bangladesh Bandarban Area Senior Manager Ashish Kumar Halder, Environment Directorate Assistant Director Md. Noor Hasan, Bandarban Forest Division Betchara Range Officer Md. delivered important speeches at the meeting. Israel, Rural Development Agency (GROUSE) Program Manager Tulu Marma, World Vision Bangladesh WRM PBI Project Manager Kazi Ghulam Murtuza Rabi. Rajbila Union Parishad Chairman Ky Ang Pru Marma, Rajbila Tangchanga Para Karbari Sudhanshu Tangchanga, Grouse W RMO Md Mamunur Rashid, Humanitarian Foundation Ukhai Wang, Forestry Organization M.H Singh Yopa, Young Leadership Representative Dauki Marma, Grouse W RMF Md Shahidul Alam's beneficiary family and World Vision and The GRAUS delegation was attended by print and electronic media journalists, representatives of various government departments, local stakeholders, development workers and representatives of civil society.
The speakers emphasized on addressing water crisis in hilly areas, conservation of natural reservoirs, environment restoration and ensuring sustainable water management through participation of local communities. This initiative will increase the capacity of households to conserve water while reducing pressure on groundwater and will play an important role in ensuring long-term water security for vulnerable populations.
The participants in the program took concerted initiatives to conserve the environment,Share experiences and share ideas on future action plans.
