Dr Enayet Karim, editor of English daily The Daily Industry and President of the Global Economist Forum, left Dhaka on Wednesday with a six-member delegation to attend the Annual Meetings of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank.
Dr Karim is also the Regional President of the World Council of Indigenous Games (WIG) for Asia. He was appointed to the position for a three-year term from April 20, 2025 to March 2027.
The appointment was formally announced by WIG Secretary General Dr Ramya in April 2025.
Dr Karim also serves as President of Bangladesh Sangbadpatra Shilpa Parishad, a national organisation representing the country's newspaper industry.
Following his appointment as WIG Asia Regional President, Dr Karim expressed gratitude to the organisation's authorities for entrusting him with the responsibility. He pledged to promote indigenous sports and games across Asia through renewed efforts and strategic initiatives.
Dr. Enayet Karim has been nominated chief of the convening committee of Global Journalist Forum (GJF). A full-fledged EC will be formed very soon.
