The Ambassador of Indonesia to Bangladesh Ms. Listyowati paid a courtesy call on Dhaka University (DU) Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. A. B. M. Obaidul Islam today August 13, 2026 at the latter’s office of the university. She was accompanied by Mr. Sahid Nurkarim, Second Secretary of the Embassy of Indonesia in Bangladesh and Mr. Ahmad Sayfuddin, Minister Counselor of the same embassy.
During the meeting they exchanged views regarding various issues including admission of more Indonesian students at Dhaka University as well as granting scholarship to them. Indonesian envoy also expressed her willingness in providing scholarship for DU students, teachers and officials to pursue higher study in different universities in Indonesia. She also sought cooperation from DU VC in establishment of ‘Indonesian Corner’ at Dhaka University to promote their language, culture and history.
DU Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. A. B. M. Obaidul Islam expressed his willingness to work with Indonesian universities for expansion of academic and research collaboration as well as betterment of teachers, students and society. He stressed the need for strengthening bilateral ties between Bangladesh and Indonesia through education and research. He also emphasized on undertaking more collaborative academic and cultural programs to strengthen people to people ties between the two countries.
They also discussed the possibilities of introducing dual degree programs on language and culture among Dhaka University and different universities in Indonesia. The possibilities of undertaking faculty and students exchanges programs as well as arranging conference, symposium and workshop under the joint auspices of Dhaka University and Indonesian universities were also discussed in the meeting. They agreed to sign a MoU in this regard soon.
