The Bangladesh Ansar and Village Defence Party (VDP) on Tuesday formally launched its 2026 Umrah delegation, distributing visas, air tickets and special gifts among 22 selected officers and members.
Director General of the force Major General Abdul Motaleb Sazzad Mahmud attended the programme at the force headquarters auditorium in Dhaka and handed over the travel documents and gifts to three officers and 19 members.
He wished the delegation a safe journey and urged its members to perform Umrah in accordance with religious guidelines and discipline. He also asked them to pray for the welfare of the country and the force.
Addressing the programme, the director general said youth is the ideal time to perform Hajj and Umrah, adding that religious practice and self-purification from an early age help build moral character.
He emphasised that positive attitudes, ethical values and humanity are essential for personal development and professional responsibilities.
Describing the Ansar-VDP as a disciplined, people-oriented and welfare-focused organisation, he urged the delegation to reflect the lessons and values of Umrah in their personal and professional lives.
He also instructed the members to maintain discipline, ensure personal safety and extend mutual support during the journey, with special care for elderly and sick fellow travellers.
The director general expressed hope that the pilgrimage would inspire the members to perform their duties with greater dedication and sincerity.
Additional Director General Brigadier General Mamunur Rashid and other senior officials were present at the programme.
