Gazipur Agricultural University (GAU) has secured a place among South Asia’s top 100 universities, ranking 98th in the QS World University Rankings: Asia 2027, marking another milestone in its growing international academic profile.

The university also ranked 86th across Asia in the “Citations per Paper” indicator, reflecting the international reach and research impact of its scholarly contributions. Published on Tuesday, November 3, by global higher education rankings agency Quacquarelli Symonds (QS), the rankings feature 1,722 universities across 26 Asian higher education systems. The University of Hong Kong secured the top position, followed by Peking University of China.

Expressing satisfaction over the university’s latest achievement, GAU Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr GKM Mustafizur Rahman said, “This achievement in the international rankings reflects the collective efforts, dedication and research commitment of our teachers, students, researchers, officers, staff and all those associated with the university. In particular, our 86th position in Asia in the Citations per Paper indicator is an important recognition of the international visibility, acceptance and impact of our research.”

The Vice-Chancellor further said, “We believe that the success of a university should not be confined to its position in rankings. Our foremost goal is to ensure that the benefits of research reach people, nurture a skilled and humane generation and contribute meaningfully to the sustainable development of the country. Guided by this vision, GAU continues to move forward.” The latest QS recognition comes on the heels of another major national achievement. GAU emerged as the champion at the Bangladesh Innovation Fair 2026, the country’s first-ever event of its kind, competing against public and private universities from across Bangladesh. In recent years, GAU has continued to strengthen its position in international university rankings.

In the Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings 2027, the university secured joint second place among universities in Bangladesh. In the THE Sustainability Impact Rankings 2026, GAU ranked first among public universities in Bangladesh. It also secured 82nd place globally in SDG 1 (No Poverty), 66th in SDG 2 (Zero Hunger) and a position within the 101–200 band in SDG 4 (Quality Education). Furthermore, GAU secured first place among public and private universities in Bangladesh in various indicators of the THE World University Rankings 2025 and 2026. In the World University Rankings for Innovation (WURI) 2026, GAU ranked 23rd globally in the “Financial Impact Driven Technology Transfer” category, emerging as the only public university from Bangladesh featured in the ranking. Meanwhile, in the QS World University Sustainability Rankings 2026, GAU secured the top position among agricultural universities in Bangladesh.
