Residents of 238 families in Naogaon are celebrating after a long-neglected road was made usable following nearly three decades of suffering.
The road had remained unsuitable for movement for around 30 years, despite repeated assurances from different local leaders that it would be repaired. As a result, residents faced persistent difficulties in their daily commutes.
The long-standing problem was finally addressed through the initiative of Shahajan Molla, an aspirant for the post of ward councillor. His initiative has brought relief to hundreds of residents who had been waiting for years to see the road restored.
Molla currently serves as the vice-president of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party's (BNP) ward unit in Ward No. 6.
Local leaders and residents attended the road's inauguration, including Shahajan Badsha, senior joint convener of the district unit of Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal; Fahim Islam Munna, joint convener of the Swechchhasebak Dal; Sirajul Islam Master, president of Ward No. 6 BNP; and Mohammad Nazim Uddin Mondal, a local community leader from Agna Para.
Residents expressed their happiness and satisfaction at the end of their long-standing difficulties, saying the restored road would make daily travel easier and improve their quality of life.
For the 238 families, the reopening of the road after nearly 30 years marks a significant milestone, bringing a festive atmosphere to the neighbourhood.
