RAB-8 has arrested three members of an inter-district robbery gang in connection with a heinous robbery at a businessman's house in Banaripara, Barisal. RAB-8's Media Officer Senior Assistant Director Amit Hasan announced the matter through a press release on Tuesday afternoon, May 6.
A special operation team of RAB-8 Sadar Company conducted a raid in the area under Airport Police Station of Barisal district on May 5 afternoon and arrested 3 robbers in a heinous robbery case at the house of businessman Md. Mizanur Rahman alias Babul under Banaripara Police Station of Barisal. Later that night, the three arrested robbers were handed over to Banaripara Police Station.
The arrested are Md. Selim Sikder (53), son of Nurul Islam Sikder of Shialia area under Barguna Sadar police station, Md. Badsha Sarder (45), son of Md. Aziz Sarder of Kachua area under Banaripara police station in Barisal, and Dalim Hawlader (48), son of the late Nazrul Islam of Indra Hawla area under Banaripara police station in Barisal. On April 22, around 2 am, a sensational robbery took place at the residence of victim Md. Mizanur Rahman Babul of Dakshin Baishari village under Banaripara police station in Barisal district.
The robbers, wearing cloth and different colored masks, beat up the family members using various indigenous weapons and intimidated them, looting 14.8 annas of gold ornaments, 2 mobile phones and 2 lakh taka in cash, totaling 22 lakh 43 thousand 500 taka. In the mentioned incident, the victim filed a robbery case at Banaripara Police Station in Barisal.
The investigating officer in charge of the case sent a request letter to the RAB-8 commander to arrest the arrested accused as suspected accused in the said robbery case. After that, the headquarters company of RAB-8 conducted a raid using shadow investigation and modern information technology and was able to arrest the accused.
It is worth noting that robbery incidents have been organized in different parts of the country with the direct participation of the arrested accused and it is known that there are multiple cases against them in different police stations of the country including robbery, theft, banditry. RAB said that according to the information obtained during interrogation, efforts are underway to recover the looted goods.
