In the last 22 days, 7,610 children have been suspected of measles across the country and 113 have died. In the last 24 hours, 10 people have died of measles and 974 have been infected. This information was given in a press release by the Directorate General of Health Services on Sunday (April 5).
Analysis of the information in the notification shows that since March 15, 7,610 children have been admitted to hospitals across the country on suspicion of measles. Of these, 929 have been diagnosed with measles. During the same period, 113 children have died on suspicion of measles, but 17 have died of measles. During this period, the highest number of suspected measles cases were reported in Dhaka division, where a total of 3,259 children have been infected, of which 468 have been confirmed to have measles.
On the other hand, in the last 24 hours, 654 patients suspected of measles have been admitted to various hospitals across the country. Of them, 42 have been diagnosed with measles. Out of these, the maximum number of 38 patients have been identified in Dhaka division.
In terms of deaths, Rajshahi division has recorded the highest number of deaths due to suspected measles in the last 24 hours, with 55 people. Next is Dhaka division, with 10 people. At this time, there were no deaths in Mymensingh, Rangpur and Sylhet divisions.
