A dentist abducted from Kuril Bishwa Road in the capital was rescued unharmed from a secluded forest in Purbachal by a patrol team of the Rajuk Ansar Guard under Dhaka Metropolitan North Zone.
Dr Hasibur Hasan, 43, was abducted on Wednesday evening while waiting beside the road to travel to Jalshiri Master Pharmacy to see patients. A driver of a white microbus offered to take him to Jalshiri and picked him up.
The abductors later tied his hands, legs, eyes and mouth and demanded Tk 100,000 in ransom from his family. They also took his Android phone and allegedly withdrew Tk 12,000 through mobile banking.
The gang eventually left the bound dentist in a forest in Sector 19 of Purbachal and fled.
During a patrol in the area, Police Constable Md Siddiqur Rahman and Ansar members Hafizur Rahman, Md Sakibul, Ratan Mia and Md Zubayer heard groaning sounds. They rushed to the spot and rescued Hasibur.
The Ansar personnel later ensured his safe return to his destination. The doctor expressed gratitude for their humanitarian and responsible role in rescuing him during the crisis.
