A four-year-old speech-impaired girl was rescued and reunited with her father within half an hour of going missing from Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) on Wednesday night.

The child, Nadia, had gone missing from the West Cabin on the third floor of the hospital’s old building around 9:30pm. She had arrived at the hospital with her family from Barguna.

After receiving the report, Ansar members deployed at DMCH under Dhaka Metropolitan South Zone and Ramna Police Station launched an immediate search.

After an extensive search, Ansar member Md Khairuzzaman found Nadia unharmed near the glass gate of the hospital’s new building, some distance from the West Cabin.

The Ansar members brought Nadia before her father, Mobarak Hossain. Despite being speech-impaired, the child identified her father through gestures. Following proper verification in the presence of hospital authorities, she was handed back to her father.

Hospital authorities and patients praised the Ansar members for their prompt and compassionate response. An emotional Mobarak Hossain expressed his gratitude after being reunited with his daughter.

The incident highlights the humanitarian role played by Ansar personnel deployed at government hospitals, alongside their regular duties of maintaining security and public order.
