Three members of an alleged organized theft gang were arrested with a machete after Bangladesh Ansar personnel foiled an attempted theft at Sikder Medical College Hospital in Dhaka.
The incident occurred at around 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday at the hospital, which falls under the Dhaka Metropolitan Ansar (DMA) South Zone. According to officials, a group of five to six suspects attempted to steal hospital property before being chased by on-duty Ansar members Sree Sajib Roy, Jewel Rana, and Joy Shil.
The suspects initially fled the scene but later returned and allegedly hurled bricks at the Ansar personnel in an attempt to create unrest. The security team quickly brought the situation under control and launched a coordinated operation with additional Ansar members from the camp.
During the operation, Ansar personnel apprehended three suspects identified as Md. Rony, 22, Sabbir, 22, and Salam, 21. A locally made machete was recovered from their possession, while other members of the group managed to escape under the cover of darkness.
The seized weapon was confiscated, and the three suspects were handed over to the local police for legal action on the instructions of the hospital authorities.
Bangladesh Ansar and Village Defence Party (VDP) said its members continue to safeguard public and private hospitals and other key installations across the country, working to prevent theft, robbery, broker activities, and other criminal offenses with professionalism and vigilance.
