The invitation of the Defense Services Command and Staff College (DSCSC) located in Dhaka Mirpur Cantonment, Director General of Bangladesh Ansar and Village Defense Force, Major General Abdul Motaleb Sajjad Mahmud, SGP, BAM, NDU, AFWC, PSC, delivered an important lecture titled “Role of Ansar-VDP in Peace and War” to the officers participating in the ongoing course.
A total of 353 officers including officers from Bangladesh Army, Navy, Air Force, Bangladesh Ansar and Village Defense Force and Bangladesh Police were present at the event.
In his presentation, the Director General highlighted the glorious history of Bangladesh Ansar and Village Defense Force, the outstanding contribution of the force's members in the Language Movement and the Great Liberation War, and the continuous role of the force in the security and welfare of the country in the post-independence period.
He discussed in detail the deployment plans, responsibilities and activities of members of different levels of Ansar and Village Defense Force in peacetime and wartime situations. At the same time, he also provided the participating officers with a proper idea about the organizational structure, capabilities, current challenges and future prospects of the force.
The Director General mentioned in his presentation that the Bangladesh Ansar and Village Defense Force has been performing its duties with efficiency, dedication and professionalism for a long time in various important national activities including maintaining law and order in the country, ensuring public safety, security of important government and strategic installations, preservation of state assets, dealing with disasters, fulfilling election duties and ensuring social security. This force, with a vast membership base extending to the grassroots of the country, is working tirelessly as an important supporting force of the national security system.
At the end of the lecture, the Director General answered various questions from the local and foreign officials participating in the course in an open question-and-answer session. Through this lively, informative and effective presentation, the participating officials gained a proper understanding of the strategic role, capabilities and important contribution of the Bangladesh Ansar and Village Defense Force to national security in peace and war situations.
