Director General of Bangladesh Ansar and Village Defence Force (VDP) Major General Abdul Motaleb Sazzad Mahmud delivered a presentation on the role of Ansar-VDP during peace and wartime at the Defence Services Command and Staff College (DSCSC) in Dhaka.
The presentation was arranged at the invitation of DSCSC for officers participating in the ongoing course. A total of 353 officers from the Bangladesh Army, Navy, Air Force, Bangladesh Ansar and VDP, and Bangladesh Police attended the session.
During his presentation, the Director General highlighted the history of Bangladesh Ansar and VDP, the contributions of its members during the Language Movement and the Liberation War, and the force’s continued role in national security and public welfare after independence.
He discussed the deployment plans, responsibilities, and operational activities of Ansar and VDP members during both peacetime and wartime situations. He also briefed participants on the force’s organizational structure, capabilities, current challenges, and future prospects.
Major General Sazzad Mahmud said that Bangladesh Ansar and VDP has been playing an important role in maintaining law and order, ensuring public security, protecting key government and strategic installations, safeguarding state assets, responding to disasters, supporting election duties, and strengthening social security.
He emphasized that with its extensive nationwide membership network, the force continues to serve as an important supporting component of the country’s national security system.
During the open question-and-answer session, the Director General responded to queries from local and foreign course participants. The session provided officers with a broader understanding of the strategic role, capabilities, and contributions of Bangladesh Ansar and VDP in national security.
At the end of the programme, participating officers expressed their appreciation and thanked the Director General for the informative presentation.
