Gopalganj Municipality has announced the proposed budget for the 2026-2027 fiscal year. The total amount of the announced budget is Tk 75 crore 31 lakh 18 thousand 480.
The Gopalganj Municipality authorities organized the budget announcement at the conference room of Gopalganj Municipality on Tuesday (July 7) afternoon.
The budget announcement was presided over by the Municipal Administrator, Additional Deputy Commissioner (Development and Human Resource Management) and Deputy Director (Acting) of the Local Government Department Fariha Tanjin.
At this time, Gopalganj Civil Surgeon and Municipal Administrator's Support Officer Dr. Abu Sayeed Md. Faruk, District Secondary Education Officer Kho: Ruhul Amin, Deputy Director (A.D.) of the District Women's Affairs Department Lakhsana Lucky, District Primary Education Officer Md. Jyotsna Khatun, Municipal Executive Officer AHM Rakibul Islam, Executive Engineer Mehedi Hasan, Social Development Officer Md. Zulfiqar Ali Molla, Personal Assistant to the Municipal Administrator Mahfuzur Rahman Lablu, other officers and employees of the municipality, as well as media workers working in various print and electronic media in the district were present.
In this budget for the new fiscal year, priority has been given to expenditure on infrastructure development of the municipal area, expansion of citizen services, development of road and drainage systems, cleanliness activities, potable water supply, waste management, installation of street lights and other public welfare sectors.
The municipal authorities said that a plan has been taken to implement the budget by increasing its own revenue collection, government grants and financing various development projects. At the same time, the goal has been set to increase the financial capacity of the municipality and ensure more modern and sustainable services for the citizens.
Responsible sources of the municipality said that it is expected that the quality of public services will increase further along with the development of urban infrastructure through the implementation of the proposed budget. One of the main goals of this year's budget is to create a citizen-friendly and planned urban management.
It is to be noted that Gopalganj Municipality prepares the budget every fiscal year by giving importance to the needs and development plans of the citizens. It has been claimed that this budget of 75 crore 31 lakh 18 thousand 480 taka for the fiscal year 2026-2027 is also part of that continuity.
