CLIMP organizes OHS action plan workshop

A two-day training workshop titled 'Occupational Health and Safety Action Plan Preparation' was organized on 5 and 6 July 2026 at the seminar room on the 12th floor of the RDED building at LGED Headquarters under the initiative of LGED's Climate Resilient Infrastructure Mainstreaming Project (CRIMP).

The training workshop was inaugurated by LGED's Additional Chief Engineer and Director of Climate Resilient Local Infrastructure Center (CRILIC) Md. Azharul Islam. Supervising Engineer of Human Resources, Environment and Gender Branch Md. Chaifuddin was present as the special guest and Project Director of CRIMP Project Md. Abdul Khalek presented the background and objectives of the workshop.

The training was led by KfW Consultant Sebastien Frauen, while KfW Urban Portfolio Coordinator Sheikh Touhidur Rahman was also present.

In the training, Sebastien Frauen discussed in detail the importance of occupational health and safety systems, their basic principles in the workplace, and various aspects of ensuring a safe and healthy working environment.

He presented the topics of identifying potential workplace risks, risk assessment, risk control steps, emergency preparedness, awareness raising, training needs, and determining performance indicators to evaluate the progress of occupational health and safety activities. In addition, practical exercises, participant presentations, and a discussion session were used to discuss the practical application of the topics discussed.

The training workshop was attended by LGED Executive Engineers, Senior Assistant Engineers and Assistant Engineers of Bhola, Barguna and Satkhira districts, Executive Engineers of Satkhira Municipality, experts from DSM Consulting, officials from contracting companies and relevant persons working on various projects. In addition, Executive Engineers, Senior Assistant Engineers and Assistant Engineers of Crimp and Crilic also participated in the training.

In his speech at the closing ceremony of the two-day training workshop, Additional Chief Engineer and Director of Crilic, Md. Azharul Islam said, “LGED is playing an important role in the development of the country’s infrastructure from the grassroots to the national level. 

Our engineers and field workers work in various challenging environments every day. The level of physical risk in the project areas under construction is very high. Therefore, ensuring the safety of engineers and workers is not an optional matter; it is our moral and professional responsibility.”

He further said, “The knowledge gained from this training should not be limited to paper and pen. I hope that you will take the initiative to quickly implement the draft action plans on occupational health and safety that you have prepared for your respective projects and workplaces at the field level.”

DSM Consulting Company Deputy Team Leader Md. Mokshedy Alam, Training Specialist Banda Hafiz, and Media and Communication Specialist Syed Mahbub Ahsan were present at the training workshop.
