Bangladesh’s inflation rate eased slightly in June 2026, with point-to-point inflation falling to 9.16% from 9.42% in May, according to the latest data released by the Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics.
The 12-month moving average inflation also declined, reaching 8.68% for the July 2025–June 2026 period, compared with 10.03% during the corresponding period a year earlier.
Despite the monthly improvement, overall inflation remained above 9% for the third consecutive month. The June rate was also higher than the 8.48% recorded in June 2025.
Food and non-food inflation both eased
Food inflation dropped to 8.60% in June from 9.06% in May.
Non-food inflation also declined, falling to 9.61% from 9.71% over the same period.
However, compared with June 2025, both categories remained elevated:
• Food inflation: increased from 7.39% to 8.60%
• Non-food inflation: rose from 9.37% to 9.61%
BBS data shows gradual moderation
The latest figures suggest that inflationary pressures have continued to moderate gradually compared with the previous year, even though consumer prices remain significantly higher than the government’s desired range.
According to the Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics, the decline in the 12-month moving average inflation indicates a broader easing trend, reflecting lower inflation compared with the exceptionally high levels recorded during the previous fiscal year.
