A fugitive convicted in a drug case and sentenced to life imprisonment has been arrested by a team of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB-3) in Dhaka’s Darus Salam area.
The arrestee was identified as **Imrul Mallik, 43**, son of Golam Rasul Mallik of Telkara village in Lohagara, Narail.
RAB-3 said its team arrested Imrul at Bagbari area under Darus Salam Police Station at around 2:20pm on Thursday based on a court-issued warrant.
According to RAB, a drug case was filed against him at Akbar Shah Police Station in Chattogram in 2018 under the Narcotics Control Act. On October 9, 2025, the Additional Sessions Court-4 in Chattogram sentenced him to life imprisonment under Section 19(1)(2) of the Narcotics Control Act, 2018.
RAB said that after the case was filed, Imrul had remained on the run in different parts of the country, allegedly changing his name and appearance to evade arrest.
Following efforts to track his whereabouts, a RAB-3 team located and arrested him in Dhaka, the force said.
Legal proceedings have been initiated against the arrested convict.
