A man was detained with seven yaba tablets at the Karwan Bazar Metro Rail Station on Friday night following the prompt action of members of the Bangladesh Ansar and Village Defence Party (VDP). He was later handed over to the police for legal action.
According to officials, the incident occurred at around 8:00 p.m. on the ground floor of the station near the eastern side of the diesel pump. While on duty, Ansar member Md. Rezaul noticed two individuals engaged in a suspicious altercation and immediately informed Shift-in-Charge APC Md. Ziaur Rahman.
Upon arriving at the scene with the Ansar member, APC Ziaur Rahman approached the two individuals. The suspects attempted to flee, prompting Ansar personnel to chase them. One of the suspects was successfully apprehended, while the other managed to escape.
A body search of the detained individual led to the recovery of seven yaba tablets. The suspect, along with the seized narcotics, was subsequently handed over to the on-duty Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) personnel at the nearby police box for further legal proceedings.
The Bangladesh Ansar and Village Defence Party reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring security at key national installations, maintaining law and order, and preventing criminal activities through professionalism, vigilance, and dedicated service.
