Three alleged brokers were arrested at the BRTA office in Mirpur during an operation by members of Bangladesh Ansar and Village Defence Party on Thursday and later sentenced to 30 days in jail each by a mobile court.
The three were detained at around 4pm while allegedly collecting money illegally from service seekers by promising to expedite various BRTA-related services.
The operation was led by PC Md Khorshed Alam, with APC Md Al Mizan and Ansar members Md Sohel Rana, Rakib Mia, Rokonuzzaman, Shaheen Alam, Md Manik Mia and Md Matiar participating.
Later, mobile court magistrate Md Sajid Anwar sentenced each of the three detainees to 30 days of simple imprisonment.
The convicts were handed over to police for further legal proceedings.
Ansar officials said such anti-brokerage drives would continue to ensure a transparent and hassle-free service environment for people visiting the BRTA office.
