The Bangladesh Energy Regulatory Commission (BERC) has adjusted the consumer-level prices of private Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) and Autogas for the month of July. According to the new directive, the price of the most commonly used 12kg LPG cylinder has been set at Tk 1,528.
The new rates will come into effect from 6:00 PM today (July 02, 2026) and will remain in force until further notice. The announcement was made through a press release signed by BERC Secretary Md. Nazrul Islam Sarkar.
Pricing Basis
According to the commission, Saudi Aramco has announced its Saudi Cargo Price (Saudi CP) for July 2026 at USD 580 per metric ton for Propane and USD 600 per metric ton for Butane. Considering a Propane-to-Butane ratio of 35:65, the average Saudi CP stands at USD 593.00 per metric ton. The price adjustment also factors in a freight charge and trader's premium of USD 180.00 per metric ton, alongside an average US Dollar exchange rate of Tk 123.08.
Private LPG (Bottled)
At the retail level, the consumer price for private LPG (including VAT) has been fixed at Tk 127.30 per kg. Based on this weight-based pricing, the adjusted rates for different cylinder sizes are as follows: 5.5 kg cylinder: Tk 700, 12 kg cylinder: Tk 1,528, 12.5 kg cylinder: Tk 1,591, 15 kg cylinder: Tk 1,910, 16 kg cylinder: Tk 2,037, 18 kg cylinder: Tk 2,291, 20 kg cylinder: Tk 2,546, 22 kg cylinder: Tk 2,801, 25 kg cylinder: Tk 3,183, 30 kg cylinder: Tk 3,819, 33 kg cylinder: Tk 4,201, 35 kg cylinder: Tk 4,456, 45 kg cylinder: Tk 5,729.
Reticulated LPG and Autogas
• Reticulated LPG: For private LPG supplied in a liquid state via the reticulated system, the price is set at Tk 123.55 per kg. For the gas in a gaseous state, the price is fixed at Tk 0.2745 per liter or Tk 274.50 per cubic meter.
• Autogas: The consumer-level price of Autogas (used in vehicles) has been adjusted to Tk 70.40 per liter (including VAT).
Government LPG Price Unchanged
The price of state-owned LPG will remain unchanged. As per the BERC order dated February 23, 2026 (Order No: 2026/06), the consumer price for a 12.5 kg cylinder of government LPG stays at Tk 776.93 at dealer/retailer points.
Strict Directive against Overcharging
The BERC has issued a strict warning against overcharging consumers. No licensee, distributor, or retailer at any level (LPG storage, bottling, or retail point) is permitted to sell bottled LPG, reticulated LPG, or Autogas at a price higher than the rates fixed by the commission.
