Prime Minister Tarique Rahman will visit Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) on July 10.
Health Minister Sardar Md. Sakhawat Hossain made the announcement on Thursday while addressing a ceremony at the hospital's Department of Pathology, where state-of-the-art microscopes and laboratory equipment were handed over.
He said Prime Minister Tarique Rahman will be accompanied by Dr. Zubaida Rahman during the visit.
The health minister expressed hope that the tour would help improve the overall quality of healthcare services at DMCH.
Speaking about the dengue situation, he said coordinated efforts are underway up to the upazila level and warned that dengue infections could intensify in July and August.
However, he said the Ministry of Health and the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) have taken adequate preparations to deal with the possible surge.
NS1 dengue testing kits have been distributed to police station, upazila and district levels, while hospitals in Dhaka and other major cities have been kept prepared.
Their capacity will be expanded and treatment services strengthened if the number of patients increases, the minister added.
He also said dengue prevention activities are being carried out from the union level, with imams and people from all walks of life being encouraged to help keep the environment clean.
He added that the country has adequate stocks of vaccines, reagents and saline, and mobile hospitals will be deployed if necessary to ensure uninterrupted treatment.
Officials at the ceremony said the newly installed state-of-the-art microscope at the DMCH Department of Pathology will make cancer diagnosis more accurate and efficient.
