A joint mobile court conducted by BSTI and the district administration in the Tongi BSCIC area of Gazipur imposed fines totaling Tk 4 lakh across five cases. During the drive on Tuesday (September 8), fines were levied for manufacturing, selling, and marketing products related to fabric color-fastness testing without a BSTI license, as well as for using storage tanks and weighing instruments without valid verification certificates.
According to BSTI Gazipur, Phoenix Home Textile Limited and Rim Dyeing Limited were fined Tk 1.5 lakh under the relevant sections of the Bangladesh Standards and Testing Institution Act, 2018, for manufacturing, selling, and distributing fabric color-fastness testing products without a BSTI license.
Additionally, the two companies were fined another Tk 1 lakh for violating environmental regulations.
Furthermore, the same two companies were fined an additional Tk 1.5 lakh under the relevant sections of the Weights and Measures Standards Act, 2018, for possessing and using storage tanks and weighing instruments without valid verification certificates.
A total of five cases were filed during the operation, and fines amounting to Tk 4 lakh were collected.
The mobile court was led by Md. Salehur Rahman, Assistant Commissioner and Executive Magistrate of Gazipur. BSTI Field Officer (CM) Mohammad Parvez Mia and Inspector (Metrology) Mohiuddin Wareshi served as prosecutors.
BSTI Gazipur stated that such drives would continue in the public interest.
