A mobile court has fined a man Tk1 lakh for illegally using gas and disconnected the unauthorised gas line at his residence in Berider Chala area of Sreepur municipality in Gazipur.
The drive was conducted on Sunday (October 11) as part of an operation to disconnect illegal gas connections in the area.
Syed Anwarul Azim, manager of Titas Gas's Sreepur Zonal Sales Office, said the operation was carried out from morning until evening in Berider Chala, Shirir Chala and Boherar Chala areas of the municipality.
During the drive, officials detected illegal gas use at the residence of Suman Bepari in Berider Chala. A mobile court subsequently fined him Tk1 lakh, and the amount was collected immediately. The illegal gas connection was also disconnected.
Executive Magistrate of Gazipur district administration Md Masudur Rahman Rubel conducted the mobile court operation.
Sheikh Jaber Noorani, deputy general manager of Titas Gas, and other senior officials of the organisation were present during the drive.
