Sheikh Saleh Al-Fawzan has been appointed as the new Grand Mufti of Saudi Arabia. He was appointed by a royal decree of Saudi King Salman bin Abdulaziz, the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques.
Previously, Sheikh Al-Fawzan served as a member of the Senior Scholars Council and a member of the Standing Committee for Scholarly Research and Iftar. He also served as a member of the Islamic Fiqah Council affiliated with the Muslim World League and a member of the Hajj Supervision Committee during the Hajj.
He was born in Al-Qasim, Saudi Arabia, in 1935. Sheikh al Fawzan received his school education in Buraidah. He earned his master's and doctorate degrees in Fiqah from the Sharia College in Riyadh. He is the author of several books. He hosted several radio programs, including the popular Noor Ala Al-Darab program.
