BNP Vice-Chairman Noakhali-4 (Sadar Subarnachar) MP Md. Shahjahan said that Noakhali's Sadar and Subarnachar will be freed from drug-terrorist extortionist and youth gangs. Most of those associated with the youth gangs are associated with some political party.
Therefore, drugs will not be stopped just by law, a social movement must be built to prevent it. It is the moral responsibility of people from all classes and professions to join this movement. None of us can avoid this responsibility. People from different classes and professions of society and people of all political ideologies must be vocal and sincere to eradicate all crimes.
He said these things while speaking as the chief guest at the fruit festival organized at the auditorium of the Noakhali Club by the Subarnachar Upazila Welfare Association in Dhaka on Friday (July 10) evening.
Md. Shahjahan further said, "We have already noticed that the attendance rate of girls is higher than that of boys in various activities including educational institutions, meetings, gatherings and discussions. Even the success rate of girls is higher than that of boys in exams. One significant reason for this is that boys are inattentive to their studies and are getting involved in various criminal activities including drug and juvenile gangs. As a result, boys are falling behind and failing in every field including studies, family, social and state.
He said, "I told the administration officials at the Noakhali Law and Order Committee meeting that those who are studying at least up to the tenth grade should not stay outside the streets, shops or houses after evening, except for unavoidable reasons. Legal action will be taken against them if they do."
Former Secretary of the Government of the People's Republic of Bangladesh ATM Ataur Rahman, former Additional Secretary Md. Hanif, General Secretary of Chhatra Dal Central Parliament Nasir Uddin Nasir, Vice President of Jubo Dal Central Committee Manjurul Azim Sumon, BNP leader Abu Saleh Md. Abdullah Sabuj, Leader of JASAS Central Committee Salah Uddin Shaheen, Director of Noakhali Club Noor Nabi Tipu and many others were present as special guests in the meeting. The meeting was presided over by President of Subarnachar Upazila Welfare Association Md. Jamal Uddin Chowdhury, and moderated by General Secretary of Subarnachar Law Upazila Welfare Association Md. Ismail Hossain.
Chhatra Dal General Secretary Nasir Uddin Nasir said, the waste lands in the southern areas of Sadar-Subarnachar are not a blessing for us, it has now become a curse. In the past, during the Awami era, anyone could occupy two hundred acres or three hundred acres at will. That cannot be allowed to continue now. It cannot be given up in any way. It must be distributed fairly. Initiatives must be taken to return the land to its true owners.
