Two youths were killed after being run over by a train in Kashiani, Gopalganj. The accident occurred in the Maheshpur Railway Station area of Kashiani Upazila on Tuesday (August 11) night.
The deceased were Hasib Gazi (20), son of Shah Alam Gazi of Baoikhola village in Maheshpur Union, and Mehedi Sheikh (25), son of Babul Sheikh of Noapara village.
The Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Rajbari Railway Police said that the two youths had fallen asleep on the railway line due to the heat. Suddenly, the Khulna-bound Jehanabad Express train ran over them, killing both of them on the spot. He also said that the Bhanga Railway Police reached the spot and completed the legal process.
According to police and family sources, they went to the railway station to get some relief from the intense heat due to the power outage and fell asleep there for a while. It is believed that the accident occurred later. Meanwhile, the death of two youths who were run over by the train has cast a shadow of grief over the area.
