Bangladesh Bank has set a Tk60,000 crore target for agricultural and rural loan disbursement in FY27, marking a 53.85% increase from the Tk39,000 crore target set for FY26.
Of the total target, Tk20,495 crore has been allocated to state-owned commercial and specialised banks, while Tk39,505 crore has been set for private and foreign commercial banks.
Bangladesh Bank Deputy Governor Habibur Rahman and Executive Director Arif Hossain Khan disclosed the figures today (17 August) following a meeting between Bangladesh Bank Governor and the managing directors of all banks.
The increased target comes as agriculture and farm mechanisation increasingly require greater access to financing to support efficient and commercially viable farm management.
