Newly elected President Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir paid tribute to the martyrs of the Liberation War at the National Memorial in Savar on Saturday morning.
He arrived at the memorial at around 10:15am and laid a wreath at the monument.
A contingent of the armed forces then presented him with a guard of honour. The president observed a moment of silence in memory of the martyrs and later signed the visitors’ book.
