The Gazipur Agricultural University Teachers’ Association (GAUTA) has extended its heartfelt congratulations and best wishes to Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir on his election as the 23rd President of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh.
In a congratulatory message issued on Sunday, August 22, signed by Association President Prof. Dr. Nasrin Akter Ivy and General Secretary Prof. Dr. Mohammad Saiful Alam, the Association described his election to the country’s highest constitutional office as a significant chapter in Bangladesh’s political and democratic journey.
The Association said his long political experience, strong connection with the people and steadfast leadership in the struggle for democratic rights have placed him in a position of national responsibility and prominence.
Congratulating the newly elected President, the Association expressed hope that he would uphold the dignity of the Constitution, strengthen the country’s constitutional institutions, and safeguard the rights, dignity and equality of all citizens through impartial, wise and responsible leadership.
The Association also expressed its expectation that higher education and research, academic freedom and institutional autonomy, an enabling educational environment and the legitimate rights and dignity of university teachers would receive due priority at the national level.
It further hoped that the new President would play a constructive and statesmanlike role in upholding Bangladesh’s independence and sovereignty, democratic values, rule of law and national unity, while discharging the constitutional responsibilities of his office with wisdom and integrity.
The GAUTA wished the President good health, long life and continued success, expressing hope that under his enlightened leadership, peace, stability and economic prosperity in Bangladesh would advance further.
