After taking charge as the minister of the Ministry of Chittagong Hill Tracts Affairs, Rajputra Saching Pru Jeri, Member of Parliament for Bandarban-300 Constituency, received a royal welcome in his constituency Bandarban for the first time.
When he reached Bandarban by road from Chittagong on Tuesday (September 1) at noon, he was welcomed by BNP and organization leaders with a fleet of motorcycles and cars at the entrance of the district, Bandarban town turned into a meeting place of Pahari-Bengali.
At this time, people from all walks of life stood on both sides of the road and congratulated the minister by sprinkling flowers and giving bouquets. Hundreds of pylons were built by various organizations of the district to welcome him.
Later in the afternoon in front of the Bandarban Press Club, Minister Sachin Pru Jeri gave a speech as the chief guest at the rally organized on the occasion of the founding anniversary of BNP.
He further said, "Harmony district Bandarban—it is easy to say. But we all have to work unitedly to maintain peace and harmony. We are still lagging behind in various fields including hill education, health and communication. Peace and harmony are very important for the socio-economic development of this region."
Saching Pru Jerry said that the development of the hilly areas should be done by following the state policy and government guidelines. Emphasizing on working together with the government for the welfare of the hill people, he said that the hill districts will also move forward in the way of development in the Prime Minister's plan.
Expressing his determination to work with the local public representatives, administration and common people in the implementation of the government's development program, the minister said that he wants to work for the welfare of the people of Bandarban regardless of party affiliation.
In the public reception and foundation anniversary meeting, the leaders and workers of Pahari-Bengali BNP and organizations from seven upazilas, two municipalities and 34 unions of the district gathered at the meeting place with part-by-part processions. In the presence of a large number of people, the reception turned into a Pahari-Bengali meeting.
