Students who obtained GPA-5 in this year's SSC and Dakhil examinations were felicitated in Fatikchhari, Chittagong. The reception ceremony was held on August 29 (Saturday) at the hall room of the upazila's traditional educational institution, Lelang Shahnagar Multipurpose High School and College, at the initiative of July Smriti Gana Pathagara and local expatriates.
The function was presided over by Shahnagar Multipurpose High School President Md. Omar Faruk Nanu and Jatiya Nagorik Party (NCP) Chittagong North District Convener Mohammad Ekramul Haque was present as the chief guest.
In his speech as the chief guest, Mohammad Ekramul Haque said, "After the historic July Movement, everything in the country has changed. Bangladesh has now entered a new chapter, where there will no longer be irregularities and discrimination like before. Equal rights for everyone will be ensured in this new Bangladesh." He urged the students to develop into good citizens of the future and work for the welfare of the country and the nation.
Earlier, Maulana Mohammad Ahsan Ullah, convener of July Memorial Public Library, delivered a welcome speech at the beginning of the program. Invited teacher Nurul Alam formally inaugurated the program. The entire program was jointly hosted by Md. Taufiqul Islam and Maulana Md. Faizullah.
Advocate Abul Kalam, Law and Order Affairs Secretary of Jatiya Nagorik Party, Chittagong North District, spoke as the main discussant. Adnanul Karim, Education Affairs Secretary of the party's Chittagong North District, was present as the special discussant.
In addition, Fatikchhari Upazila Chhatra Dal Joint Convener M. A. Mahfuz, social worker and sports enthusiast Md. Jabed Hossain Ershad, and Harualchhari College Teacher and Academic Head Md. Afaz Uddin spoke as special guests to inspire the students.
The event was attended by school and college teachers, local dignitaries, guardians and a large number of meritorious students. After the presentation of mementos to the meritorious students, the event concluded successfully with a special prayer and supplication by Maulana Qari Shoaib.
