Coast Guard Media Officer Lieutenant Commander Sabbir Alam Sujan gave this information on Saturday, August 29, 2026 afternoon.
He said that a special operation was conducted on Friday, August 28, 2026, at 10 pm by Coast Guard Outposts Lalmohan and Charmanika based on secret information in the Maya River under Dularhat Police Station of Bhola. During the operation, an artisanal trawling boat and 11 trawling nets were seized from the said area.
Later, it was confirmed by the Upazila Fisheries Officer that the seized boat was Indian. Initially, it is believed that some unscrupulous Bangladeshi people were preparing to illegally bring the boat to Bangladesh and use it to fish. During the operation, no one could be arrested as the fishermen on the boat fled after sensing the presence of the Coast Guard.
The process of taking further legal action against the seized Indian artisanal trawling boats and trawling nets is under process.
He further said that the Bangladesh Coast Guard's operations to prevent illegal fishing in the country's waters and protect fish resources will continue in the future.
