An advocacy session was organized in Munshiganj by CHOLO (Citizens for Humanity, Opportunity, Leadership & Outreach) with the aim of building an egalitarian society, fostering youth leadership, and raising social awareness. Held on October 28, 2026, at the Munshiganj Royal Club Limited under the project "Shomotay Tarunno: Youth for Equality," the session saw the participation of prominent local figures, representatives from various professions, members of social organizations, and young men and women.

Attendees included Md. Didar Hossain, Chairman of the Nava Group and President of the Munshiganj Royal Club Limited; Mohammad Masudur Rahman, City Social Welfare Officer; Md. Shafiqul Islam, a professor at Government Haraganga College; Nazir Ahmad, an assistant professor at the same college; Md. Tanvir Al Imam Hasan, a lecturer at Munshiganj Mohila College; Kazi Mohammad Ashraf, a lecturer at Rampal College; Shahjahan Shikdar, President of the District Ulama Dal; and Mohammad Al Nur Islam, President of the Munshiganj District Anti-Corruption Committee. ...General Secretary and educator Mosharraf Hossain; film director Md. Mustafiz Fidaul Hasan; valiant Freedom Fighter and social worker Md. Shahjahan Gazi; and Md. Ataur Rahman, an engineer at the Munshiganj Municipality.

The event was moderated by Sakil Imran Nijhar—a writer, development worker, and the founder and Executive Director of CHOLO. Also present were CHOLO’s Acting Chairman Md. Farhan Ahmed, other volunteers and representatives of the organization, and various prominent individuals from across the Munshiganj district.

The discussion highlighted key issues such as establishing gender equality, ensuring digital safety, enhancing media literacy, fostering youth skill development, and expanding opportunities for entrepreneurship. In particular, the conversation focused on verifying information on digital platforms, identifying fake news and misleading content, practicing responsible online behavior, and safeguarding personal data privacy.

Furthermore, the participants exchanged views on eliminating gender-based discrimination and harmful social norms, preventing online harassment, upholding equal rights, and increasing the participation of young people in local-level decision-making processes.

The necessity for a concerted effort—involving government institutions, civil society, educational establishments, and local communities—to foster the rights, leadership, sense of social responsibility, and self-reliance of young people was highlighted. Participants noted that in today’s digital age, it is not enough for youth to be merely proficient in using technology; they must also develop the ability to verify the authenticity of information found online, analyze media content, and share information responsibly. Furthermore, families, educational institutions, government agencies, and social organizations must play an active role in ensuring gender equality and an inclusive environment.

CHOLO stated that a key objective of such initiatives is to enhance the capacity of young people, ensure equal opportunities, and encourage collective action toward building a safe and inclusive society. The organization emphasizes the importance of valuing the opinions of youth and creating opportunities for their active participation in various social change initiatives.

Through discussions and the exchange of views among stakeholders, the session underscored the importance of mutual cooperation in promoting gender equality, digital safety, media literacy, and the development of youth leadership.
