The Bangladesh Ansar and Village Defence Force has begun nationwide observances of National Revolution and Solidarity Day on November 7 with the hoisting of the national flag and the reading of messages from the President and the Prime Minister.
The programmes were held at the force's headquarters, all range offices and district offices across the country at sunrise on Saturday, November 7, 2026.
Officials, employees and members of different ranks attended the ceremonies, which were conducted in accordance with the prescribed flag rules.
The messages from the President and the Prime Minister highlighted the historical background of the day, its significance in national life and its relevance in the present context.
November 7, 1975, is regarded as a significant chapter in Bangladesh's political history. Amid political unrest and uncertainty at the time, the Sipahi-Janata Revolution and Solidarity led to the release of then Army Chief Major General Ziaur Rahman.
Subsequently, under his leadership, the country entered a new phase of political and administrative stability, restoration of normal state functions, reintroduction of multiparty democracy and a return to the electoral process.
The nationwide observances reflected the force's institutional participation in commemorating the day and reinforced the values of patriotism, national identity, unity, solidarity and commitment to public service among its members.
The Bangladesh Ansar and Village Defence Force said the programmes demonstrated the organisation's commitment to upholding the historical spirit and significance of National Revolution and Solidarity Day.
