Senior Secretary of the Ministry of Women and Children Affairs, Momtaz Ahmed NDC, said that health and care of mothers and children are essential for building a healthy nation. Therefore, a safe and healthy environment must be ensured for mothers and children.
He said these things as the chief guest at the inauguration of a training program held under the "Supporting Implementation of the Mother and Child (SIMCBP)" project run by the Ministry of Women and Children Affairs at BRAC Learning Center in Khadimnagar, Sylhet today.
The program was organized with various professionals at the upazila level who provide training as resource persons to ensure the good health of mothers and children. The program was presided over by Joint Secretary and Project Director of the Ministry of Women and Children Affairs, Dr. Prakash Kanti Chowdhury.
Regarding the importance of maternal services during pregnancy, the Senior Secretary said that the development of the child begins in the womb and the physical health of the mother directly affects the development of the child's brain during pregnancy. Therefore, mothers should be provided with all kinds of support, including adequate rest, food, and necessary medical checkups during pregnancy and after pregnancy.
Addressing the resource persons participating in the training, he said that the perspectives of different professionals are different. But a great purpose is achieved only when everyone's perspectives come together. He urged the participants to ensure that every mother and every member of the family benefits from this training.
In addition, the Senior Secretary inaugurated the Sanjeevani training for employees of the Ministry of Women and Children Affairs at the Bangladesh Rural Development Institute located in Khadimnagar. After that, he visited the activities of the Youth Training Center of the Department of Youth Development in Sylhet Sadar and the child day care center for children of working mothers.
In the afternoon, she visited the offices of the Divisional and Deputy Director of the Women's Support Program run by the Department of Women's Affairs and held a meeting with district and upazila officials.
