Long queue of cars and motorcycles stretches for hundreds of metres in all the petrol pumps in Dhaka. The long queues at fuel stations across the capital are growing steadily, increasing hardship for drivers and worsening traffic congestion, residents and officials said Tuesday told to the Daily Industry.
At a filling station in the Kalshi area of Mirpur, lines of vehicles stretched beyond the pump premises and spilled onto nearby roads, reaching as far as ECB Square and approaching the cantonment area.
A businessman named Abul Khair, who came to get oil at the filling station, said, “Although the queue of cars at this pump is a little long, oil is always available here. Even though it is a hardship, I come to get oil from this pump with difficulty.”
He also said that the queue of cars for oil started getting longer since a week after Eid. The queue has become longer in the last two days. The same situation was seen at the Nikunja Model Service Center and CNG Filling Station in the capital on Monday.
On Sunday afternoon, the line of vehicles waiting to get fuel at this filling station reached the Kuril Flyover. However, Monday afternoon, it exceeded Kurmitola Hospital.
Meanwhile, long queues of vehicles are now seen day and night at petrol pumps in the capital waiting for fuel. Drivers are getting tired and sick after standing for hours. Many are seen sitting on the side of the road, spreading papers and clothes.
