Leaders of the Bangladesh Secretariat Journalists Association (JBOS) have commented that responsible journalism is essential in the secretariat, the heart of government administration, in order to protect democracy.
The leaders said this at a meeting of the organization's executive committee at a hotel in the capital on Tuesday.
The meeting said that during the past 17 years of fascism, there was no responsible journalism in the secretariat. In the name of journalism, there was mis-journalism here. Now, during the democratic government, there is no opportunity for the same kind of activities to continue. Responsible journalism must be continued in the secretariat to keep democratic Bangladesh united. There is no alternative to this.
The meeting, chaired by the organization's president Riazur Rahman Riaz and moderated by General Secretary Nizam Uddin Darbesh, was attended by Vice President Nur-e Alam Barshan, Joint General Secretary Monirul Islam Rohan, Organizing Secretary Rumazzal Hossain Rubel, Office Secretary Ahsan Kamrul, Executive Members Khandaker Alamgir Hossain, Akhter Habib, Mahmudul Hasan, Altaf Hossain, Moktadir Hossain, Al Amin Selim, Mohammad Ali Abir, Aditya Rimon, and others.
