In a display of swift action and professional vigilance, members of the Bangladesh Ansar successfully foiled an attempted auto-rickshaw hijacking in the capital's Mohakhali area early Friday morning. The operation resulted in the arrest of three members of an organized gang and the recovery of the stolen vehicle and weapons.
At approximately 4:15 AM on Friday, a patrol team from the National Institute of Diseases of the Chest and Hospital (NIDCH) Ansar Camp heard cries for help while performing their routine duties.
Upon reaching the scene, the security personnel found a man whose mouth had been gagged. Initial inquiries revealed that a gang had hijacked his auto-rickshaw. To evade suspicion, the criminals were fleeing the scene by posing as the driver and passengers of the vehicle.
Led by an Assistant Patrol Commander (APC), the Ansar team immediately gave chase. Through strategic maneuvering, they managed to intercept the vehicle and apprehend three suspects red-handed.
The arrested individuals have been identified as:
Md. Riyazul Islam (27), from Bancharampur, Brahmanbaria. Md. Raju Mia (20), from Gauripur, Mymensingh. Md. Rajan Mia (30), from Sarishabari, Jamalpur. Recovered Items and Legal Action
During the operation, the team recovered: One (01) Auto-rickshaw, Two (02) Sharp knives, Two (02) Button mobile phones.
The heroic team consisted of APC Md. Aminul Islam and Ansar members Md. Abdul Jalil, Md. Kamran, and Md. Ohiduzzaman.
The recovered auto-rickshaw has been returned to its rightful owner. The three suspects were handed over to the Tejgaon Police Station, where legal proceedings against them are currently underway.
This successful intervention highlights the critical role of the Bangladesh Ansar in maintaining urban security. Their proactive presence and rapid response not only deterred a serious crime but also reinforced public confidence in the safety of the capital’s streets during the late-night hours.
