To raise awareness about environmental protection and climate change, Green Voice International organized a friendly football match and distributed tree saplings among players in Haimchar, Chandpur.
The event, held under the slogan “Plant Trees, Protect the Climate,” took place on Friday afternoon at the Algi Durgapur High School ground, featuring a friendly match between supporters of Argentina and Brazil.
Green Voice International Chief Coordinator Ovi Ahmed Juel attended the event as the chief guest. Speaking before the match, he urged young people to embrace sports while actively contributing to environmental conservation.
“Bangladesh is one of the countries most vulnerable to climate change. River erosion, excessive rainfall, heatwaves, and cyclones are constantly challenging our lives. Now is the time to become more aware and take action,” he said.
Jewel described the programme as more than just a football match, calling it a climate awareness campaign aimed at inspiring young people to protect nature. He encouraged everyone to plant at least one tree to help safeguard the environment.
The match was officiated by journalist and Haimchar Upazila Sports Association representative Hasan Al Mamun, with Sardar Md Rafi Amin and Md Fimon serving as assistant referees.
In the match, Argentina defeated Brazil 2-1.
Following the game, Green Voice International distributed a tree sapling to each participating player as part of its campaign to promote environmental conservation and climate action among the youth.
